I'm not Jascii Or Momotato; I don't know all these producers or seiyuu and I hate most fanservice and h-game/harem anime. So these mini-reviews will trash shows like that.

Thirteenth Victim: Trinity Blood Episode 1: Flight Night

Trinity Blood

Quick Summary: The Yaoi art version of a gay step son of Hellsing and Trigun, with bad recylced Gonzo cg, and bits of stupid and over-used plot devices thrown in.

My take: To be honest, I was expecting a really bad yaoi fangirl fwap fest from all the bishounen art that's in this show, and I'm not that far off-base. Yaoi fangirls must be flocking to this like they did to Weiss Kruez, Saiyuki, and Gay Backers. Anyway it's by gonzo, which means it has bad CG and probably a lame ending. Now that I think about it, it seems like half the shows I've reviewed so far are gonzo, and they all suck. The opening song is pretty good actually. So the story seems to take place in the far future after humanity has caused Armageddon to happen. I thought that was really novel; no one has every used that as a plot device in anime before. The animation is really funny because parts of it look really high quality and parts of it look SUPER low budget. Gonzo has also reused a lot of designs they must have thrown away for Last Exile and Gankutsuou, since lame airships abound. Hell you can see bits of reused character design in every character, even a 1:1 copy from Chrno Chrusade. Moving on, the main character is some faggy bishounen who drops his pants for yaoi at any sign of male ass. Well ok, maybe only in the yaoi fanfics that are being written as we speak by 300lb fan girls, but that's what he looks like. His name is like Abel Nightrod or something. Nightrod just sounds like a yaoi character's name, so even if that's not, I'm leaving it. Just think about the joke potential. "Yo man, check out my ABLE NIGHT ROD, AROD got nothing on this!"

So someone explain to me the attraction to effeminate male lead characters? Edit: Thanks to mikedude. He informs me that gay guys who are closeted like himself, like to pretend that the man they're fantasizing about sodomizing resemble a woman. This is so that they feel less guilty for not being openly gay. Anyway, you know the main character is a fruit; what kind of man orders tea with 13 sugars?! ZOMG It's the matrix!!1! Teh Vampirez control the matrix!!1 OK there's some gay shit at the "Vatican" (I think, you can never tell with spoken Engrish), having to do with blowing some ship out of the sky because it has been attacked by a vampire or something. The "pope" guy seems to be a wimp and he has a bishounen looking older sister, and a gay looking older brother advising him to take two different courses of action. I get the feeling that off camera the 3 of them have some kind of incestuous orgy. Jesus Christ, they just played the "lost technology" card from every sci-fi anime ever™. I had started listing all the anime that had used lost technology, but the list was like 40 entries long. Where is the goddamn originality? The dialogue is god awful as well. Zomg super plot twist time, Abel is a vampire who drinks other vampires' blood or something. Yeah. Ok. This sounds like a plot device Taishi would jizz uncontrollably over. Actually I have no idea if he would or not, but I couldn't just end a review without bashing random fansubbers. Anyway, apparently Trinity Blood has a yaoi fangirl abbreviation, ToriBla. PSA: like I said earlier, if you use japanese abbreviations like this, and you don't speak japanese on a daily basis, you are a faggot fan boy. That means you Taishi. That means you Ele. Anyway back to the show. ZOMGWTFBBQ where did he pull that huge ass staff from; it's not like he has Spawn's cape to hide that shit in. That must be his NIGHTROD 1. No wonder all the yaoi fans are all over this, if he can pull a staff like that out of thin air, imagine what he can pull out of his pants. This show being a complete ripoff of Trigun, he'll have 2 more Nightrods, 1 in his pants and...well I'll leave the last Nightrod upto your imagination. Bleh, the final fight was pretty lame =/. OOO Missile versus gunship! And that ends the ep. Surprisingly, no overt yaoi. The ending has all sorts of yaoi-style art even though it's a "man" and a woman; the song is tolerable, but nothing special.

Verdict: Gonzo has another loser that will be quickly licensed. If this show could be any more trite, it would need robots and exploding cross symbolism. I'm sort of expecting gonzo to introduce those in episode 2. Which I won't watch. Score wise, solid 5, only because of the action, because there's a fair amount of it to keep it entertaining between the recycled plot elements. Might be worth watching, but honestly the chance of it not sucking is similar to the odds of finding an asian girl who's both cute and not fucked in the head. I did some rudimentary calculations and figured there are only 5000 of in existence out of 1 billion.

Twelveth Victim: Basilisk Episode 1

Basilisk

Quick Summary: Gonzo's attempt at a Jidai-geki(historical fiction) ninja scroll.

My take: If you've been watching the news lately, you'll know that China and Japan are having tensions over war atrocities allegedly perpetrated by the Japanese during and prior to World War II. You're asking yourself right about now, "WTF does that have to do with Basilisk?". Nothing, but me ranting about how the Chinese are fucking stupid for rioting in the streets over something that happened 60 years ago, when they should be rioting cuz their government treats them like shit, is more entertaining than Basilisk. It would have more to do with history as well.

Anyway, the opening scene is artsy fartsy but pretty fucking violent. There's some lame japanese philosphy type shit said by a boring narator. The opening song sounds like a mid-90s jpop-rock song. I kinda like it. The art is not my favorite style, it's trying TOO hard to be "classic" if you know what I mean. Like they reused cells from a 1980s Samurai show. It looks super cheap and really bad, like they got a bunch of chinese protestors to do the art because they wanted to say "FUCK YOU JAPAN". Either that or the Koreans got sick of drawing Naruto and Sasuke doing the same thing over and over, and snapped up a lucrative animation sweatshop contract from Gonzo. I'm actually not kidding; most of the animation credits are Korean. Speaking of which, fuck Nike and the Gap, what about Japan using sub-par slave labor to animate!? Where are the boycotters for that!? Calling all residents of Berkeley, you have a new mission in life! Free weed to the first 5 layabouts in ethnic studies who hunger strike instead of going to class for this cause!

Anyway, the episode starts with some lame fighting. They're really trying too hard to be cool and fail miserably. And I have no idea what the old farts are saying, but it sounds like a bad attempt at back story and plot, something gonzo has NO idea how to do. I guess they're trying to infuse it with some historical basis too. Lame. I like my samurai violence plot free, kthnx. More than anything else, this is as boring as Glass Mask, but with violence instead of ramen delivery. God they really did rip off ninja scroll, there's even a naked buxom bitch. Ah boo the would be sex scene was interrupted by an explosion. What's sick is that I'm pretty sure the buxom babe they show is an old granny in the begining. Finally, 1 cool fighting sequence after like 15 minutes. The end of the episode is kinda sad, but I thought it really really lame. The ending song is pretty good. I really don't know the direction this show is going to take, and honestly, I could care less. I didn't even want to post this review. I can't even think of writing anything witty. It's just very unmemorable. I don't even know why it's called Basilisk really, other than the snake and eagle double homicide in the begining.

Verdict: Gonzo has another loser that will be quickly licensed. I say Monoblasters will get it, but no one will notice that the audio is mono because they'll have fallen asleep by then. I give it a 5 and won't be watching

Eleventh Victim: Hachimitsu to Clover Episode 1

Hachimitsu to Clover

Quick Summary: Loser art college students try to bang some lolibait new student, while engaging in humorous antics.

My take: My quick summary is probably wrong, since I've done zero research into this show. I've been told this is a (really bad) popular shoujo series, whose name means "Honey and Clover". The same kind of fans who jizz all over Megatokyo, and fangirls who write "TenniPri" and "HagaRen" fanfics call this manga/anime "HachiKuro". PSA: you fags are not japanese, abbreviating shit like them makes you gay, unless you are mocking them like me. So anyway yea, the music for the opening song is actually ok, I just hate the singer's voice. It's claymation of plates of food art, which is sort of different for an opening song I guess. Until you see a cake in the shape of school girl panties soaked with jizz. You think I'm lying, but I'm
not making this shit up. Bay says I should lay off the jizz jokes, but after seeing that, jesus christ, the japanese are fucking sick, and this show NEEDS to be insulted with jizz jokes.

So anyway, I guess the main character is some kind of loser college student in a beat up shitty dorm. I think I've seen this plot before when it was called Koko wa Greenwood and Maison Ikkoku. OK maybe not, but still. Every character either looks like X-aZnEmoKid1986-X or GayBishounenDude. OK, now we have a ZOMG Loli alert, call Drago and Kanna. No wonder Drago was all over this shit, there's some yellow hat action involved. She seems really young and shy, prime for fetishbait. Anyway the rest of the episode is sort of a character introduction and random music video style animation near the end with some throw away japanese song. From what I gather most of the characters are students in an art school and they'll fall in love with lolibait girl in one way or another. Anyway the jokes are not funny. The situational comedy isn't very funny. I guess that Morita guy is kinda funny, but it's very forceful and it's all something that's been done over and over. There's no novelty. The psuedo-SD scenes are the highlight after the Morita scenes. Actually there's one scene where Morita goes robo-morita that was pretty funny. The ending song is very "TenniPri". As far as a plot, I can't see one. What's surprising is that I thought it'd approach Glass Mask levels of boring, but it's not quite that bad.

Verdict: Shoujo manga fans, lolicons, bishounen fanfic writers, and the usual boring romantic comedy type fans will love this. It's caused Drago to run out of jizz, which is why I haven't heard much out of him lately. Surprisingly watchable; better than Tsubasa, better than Emma even, though I probably won't be watching it. Side Note: I've heard Tsubasa caused Anime-Keep to break into two groups. That alone should be enough to raise the score of Tsubasa, but then as a side effect, we have Keep and Keep-jr(Conclave) BOTH subbing Tsubasa, doing a disservice to humanity as a whole, so I'll leave Tsubasa's score unchanged. Anyway it's a 10 compared to the other boring shoujo show of this season, Glass Mask. However, the real score stands at Glass Mask 4 - Hachimitsu to Clover 6.
